@freemo Nah, you misinterpret me. An AR-15's purpose is obviously not to cook with. It falls under 'arms'. The drain cleaner isn't falling into that category.

I don't have to make up those rules. I'm sure USA already has a whole list of categories for those kind of objects.

@freemo Well, what would fall under the right to keep and bear arms then? Dandelions?

@nick I'd say that's next year, considering this won't be out until december. :D

@kojote@mastodon.bayern Kinda silly considering nobody has that yet. I'd rather watch until the first revision at least. ;)

Apparently it's a madhouse for people trying to buy the Steam Deck all at the same time, heh.

@freemo Makes sense! But it's not produced with the intention to use as a weapon though! Unless you count the war against clogged up drains!

@freemo How do you use drain cleaner as a weapon? I'm really curious now! SCUBA I can still see usable as a blunt weapon, especially those oxygen tanks!

@freemo You know, that actually raises a good point. You might have the right to bear arms... muskets, that is. You probably shouldn't have the right to own one of those modern weapons at all. ;)

@JonathanMBR Pretty impressive, as if the earth split in two people must've thought.

Pet death

@thomasfuchs Sigh, those moments never get easier. Just keep in mind he's had a fantastic life with you. Cherish those memories...

Woh, I'm glad I don't live in hilly terrain. There are gigantic floods over in the province Limburg. Already over 10k people had to evacuate. Belgium and Germany are worse off.

On the other hand, I'm probably now living in a province with the most infections. Thanks, students, for not listening to your common sense when our minister said everything was possible again. (Can somebody fire that minister already? Not the first time he did a blunder. :P)

I think we could use some good news about now.. :P

@MicroSFF I agree with the witch, find better friends. Real friends let you drink whatever you want.

@Acer That's a good question. Do you read English books? Chances are that 'Anhedonia' is barely if ever mentioned in there.

How do you learn English? Are you actively reading somewhere (books, social media, television), or do you mainly look in a dictionary?

My idea is, if you know 'Anhedonia', you might be pretty good at English already. ;)

For some English words I still peruse the dictionary (dictionary.com for example), that's fine. That's normal. Even for my own language (Dutch) I use the dictionary sometimes if I encounter a word that I don't know.

The biggest tip I can give is to use the dictionary in the language you want to learn. No translations. And if you encounter a word that you're not sure of in a sentence, just keep on reading. Usually the word becomes clear in context. If at the end of the story you still don't understand that word, you can use the dictionary as mentioned above. This helps you learn the language faster.

@Acer I'm wondering if your goal is to learn *every* english word in existence. I don't think many people have ever heard of Anhedonia before?

@freemo Probably depends on whether they have a fair amount of whales. 99% crap players, 1% rich players that pay for everything. Then a subscription model will be far away.

I wouldn't mind subscription model coming back... I'm a lifetimer so it wouldn't affect me much. ;)

@freemo It's probably way too late for Standing Stone Games to go back to a subscription model in this day and age. But if they can actually tackle the things that Turbine started slacking on once they switched to a 'Freemium' model, they might stand a chance.

The base game (all up until and with Mines of Moria) is still decent and enjoyable. It's just after Moria that you can see that the storyline starts to suck. Especially Rohan.. oh gods...

Freemium is not a reason to make the game suck. Guild Wars 2 tackles it nicely.

I can only hope SSG knows what they're doing. They did also let this fester on for too long.

@fraggle@octodon.social What Toys You People Play?

@lydiaconwell Yeah.

Specs-wise that hardware was fine I believe. It's just that the whole thing was handled rather shoddily.

I guess I should've left when the server was unresponsive for a few days for the umpteenth time and the hoster was off to family business and not responding to emails. Sure, I understand people have a real life, but this was a bit too often and the downtimes too frequent. I guess that was kinda an omen for the crash to come and the lack of communication (still haven't heard anything from him so far).

Ah well, started afresh here and so far it's pretty damn stable which is a relief.
