@mur2501 Is it even fuller than the trains in Japan? They even have people to push travellers into the train. 😬
youtube.com/watch?v=E7kor5nHtZ

You have people hanging outside the train, but is inside just as full as in Japan? ;)

@mur2501 😉

Stations here aren't that empty anymore. Everybody uses trains again, you're required to wear masks there. But at the start of the first lockdown they were eerily deserted.

@freemo I'd go for a shitton of shrimp. Big shrimp. I love shrimp. That's also what I usually grab most of when I visit the Chinese all-you-can-eat restaurant here. Shrimp shrimp shrimp. Cooked, fried, wokked, whatevered, everythinged!

@freemo Weekends, 29 euro per person, or 35 including drinks. Weekdays, 27/32.

I'm not really too fond of speed eating though, not too much room for a nice chat. But hey, when I'm going with my parents, chatting is a bit tiring (I have to fucking lipread 90% of the time) so might as well munch on stuff instead! If they eat, I don't have to lipread!

@freemo 😂 Spoken like a true American!

But I just found its rules. Lemme read and get refreshed on what it was like again.

Oh, they upgraded to tablets now, easier than pointing at a paper menu. :D

It is an all-you-can-eat with 2 hour time limit. Unlimited rounds, max 5 items per round. You get fined for uneaten food.

Ok that's clearer. They don't look at the amount of rounds you take but at the time. I remember reading their rules back then and getting confused like hell. They might've maybe worded things very poorly back then.

@freemo Limit might be higher, it's been years. I think it's probably more than 5, but I wouldn't know where to begin. 6? 7? 8? So I just called a random 'high enough' number. :P

@freemo Sorta, yeah. :) We got full pretty fast after just a few rounds already, lol.

@freemo It's kinda like that. Except you're sitting at a table and can choose out of a very picture-ful menu what you'd want. You get uh.. 5 'rounds' or so and can have uh.. like 4 stuff per round or so.. I don't even know what that order system is called. But it is great for us to try out various different stuff per round.

@freemo I'm all in favor of just a little bit of zing. Alright, I'll be trying out those sushi thingies when we get the opportunity to go to that Japanese restaurant again. (The other one, not the highly regarded bullshit one)

@freemo Hopefully not too spicy. I mean, you know those sachets inside those ramen noodles packages? Which have one for seasoning and the other smaller for spicy in it? That spicy is probably the extent of what I still enjoy. :P If I start sweating a lot while eating, I'll be full after just a few bites and call it a night. :P

@freemo It didn't help that the highly ranked Japanese restaurant we went to also served that kinda bland sushi stuff. Afterwards I was like 'meh..'. The Japanese 'fastfood' place (not quite fastfood but don't know of a better term) was way tastier.

@freemo Mmm, so I actually should be trying sushi with cooked/fried stuff in it, instead of the raw fish which inevitably would be bland for me and force me to use soy sauce and complain about it. ;)

@freemo Huh, tempura is sushi too? I do like tempura actually. With sushi I thought it's just those rolled in seaweed thingies or stuff draped around a piece of rice.

@freemo Lol, well it's what that highly ranked restaurant served us. :D But eel sounds good actually. Maybe when this stupid Corona stuff is over, we'll go to that one Japanese restaurant (different one) and I'll try some more variations of sushi then. My parents still owe me a bday dinner, and mom opted for that one and I was like sure thing. Just biding our time for now. :D

@mur2501 Not missing out on too much imo. ;) They look funky and colourful... but the taste isn't following that scheme. :D

@freemo

@freemo Pfft, don't really recall much since it's been a while.. but I can safely say that I've never had such bland salmon before and almost gagged on the blandness of it. It looked tasty but that's about it.

So, if sushi can only really be eaten with soy sauce, then I'm failing to see the point of it. I mean, soy sauce isn't THAT utterly fantastic to begin with, I'd rather have smoked salmon.. Now that's tasty! Or marinaded fish. Oh boy oh boy oh boy. *Initiate drool sequence like Homer Simpson*

@freemo I absolutely love the smoked stuff..

Now sushi. To be honest I don't get the appeal of it. I've tried eating various sushi. I've even gone to a superbly real Japanese restaurant, and uh.. yeah, no, sushi ain't for me. I had to drown the poor pieces in the soy sauce to not die of blandness. :P

@freemo Possibly. I just haven't really noticed it. I'll try to pay attention next time I eat a mackerel! If you want salty, now... go get a 'zoute haring' here. :9 That's definitely salty, lol!

@freemo Weird, I don't find the mackerel salty in general. Now and then I buy a smoked mackerel or smoked mackerel filet from the supermarket. I'll do filets again next time, that's so much easier than dealing with the fishbone. Then I just mix it up with rice and add some mais (corn for you) along, and probably also peas. Simple, filling. I don't tend to use a lot of sauce if at all.

The sardines I only eat in a sandwich. :D
