@kk Heh, cute. Is that an actual stamp? Looks like a collector's item to me!

@mur2501
Don't feel bad. There are people here who graduated in computer science who barely know how turn on a computer. A study is just for a piece of paper and lots of theory, the real knowledge and experience you have to get from the big world.

@freemo

@mur2501
Aha. Well, do your best and I wish you the very best of luck! The sooner you can get to actual computer science-related stuff, the better. :)

@freemo

@freemo That's indeed a bad practice, giving mortgages to people who can't afford it. When I was still MUSHing, over a decade ago, I chatted a lot with Americans who immediately experienced the consequences of this crisis. Some managed to get a house for dirt cheap that way. Funky.

So the democrats try to do this again? Jeez. I think they should put more effort in affordable social housing for that target group.

@mur2501
My dad used paper with a millimeter-grid on it, you don't have those?

And why don't you get a drafter?

@freemo

@mur2501 Huh, never worked with that one. It looks like you could draw summoning circles with it!

@freemo

@freemo Kind of depends on how you look at it. The current economic malaise is usually the result of a decision made years before. So if the Democrats are now in charge, and the economy seems to crash, who is to say it's not because of what the Republicans decided a few years ago?

Mind you, I don't know the exact details, but I just had to thought of that because that often gets overlooked.

@mur2501
I had to imagegoogle 'drafter', it seems to be a compass?

@freemo

@freemo
Aaahhh, ok that's nicely explained. Dad and me use the hook-ruler regularly when DIYing up with planks.

I think I'd probably still use normal rulers instead of those rolling things. I fumble way too much.

@mur2501

@freemo Just wondering, would the republicans figure it out though?

@mur2501
Isn't a ruler just a ruler? What improper tools are we talking about?
But I agree, I wasn't really fond of all this precision drawing either. I'd rather use a computer for that, heh. At least you could ctrl-z nicely if you made a mistake!

Hell, life needs a CTRL-Z feature!

@freemo

@mur2501
Protractors and rulers I've used before (maths). But the 'Roll-n-draw' ruler I've not seen before and am not really sure how you'd use it heh.

@freemo

@mur2501 That's a possibility. Might help in spatial thinking there. Ah well, if you have to do it, then you have to do it. Might as well do it well anyway!

@freemo
Probably wouldn't be a course here anymore. Since the HBS is long gone (it's become the VWO I believe) the focus shifted. I'll ask my dad sometime about it. I've seen some of his engineering drawings, somehow he still has them. ;) He hated that course though.

@mur2501

@mur2501 Huh, interesting. Although.. we have it as 'Computer Science' here. Is Computer Engineering any different over there, or is it just another name for the same?

@freemo
Highschool? Which course was that? I know my dad did need to do engineering drawings too in highschool (at the HBS), but modern highschools don't really have this anymore.

@mur2501

@mur2501 .. wow. I have yet to see a Computer Science student here doing that. We had to study lots of maths and logic, but not drawing, heh.

Had to edit a settings.txt file in 7 Billion Humans in order to force the subtitles to be shown. Subtitles are good, so it's even weirder that they didn't have an in-game option to toggle it. At least, I couldn't see an obvious way to do so.

@mur2501 I guess that's why I like games with a story. If I can follow the storyline, that can be very immersive to me.

But if you're interested in sound games... there is one that's very nice.. it visualises sound! It's called Devil's Tuning Fork, try it out here: dge2.itch.io/devils-tuning-for

@mur2501 Love Skyrim, heh. Played the heck out of that one. With a lot of mods. Bethesda is one of the rare studios where I wouldn't mind a game from.. though it does have its limits. Fallout 4 wasn't engaging, and Fallout 76 was something I wasn't interested in at all... and I loved Fallout 3. Bethesda games are really really really buggy as holy fuck, jeez. And they should stick to single player games too.

The gameplay of the Assassin's Creed series is just not for me.

LA Noire did look interesting to me back then as well, but the reviews saying it's buggy is enough for me to stay away. There's so many other games that's fun, so I have no reason to fund a big studio. :P

Is there any game at all that you like where you don't need the sound? :P
