I've tried out some Space Station 14 with a buddy. It was interesting, it kinda had a MUSH vibe. Join a server, take on a role and then join the station. The game still felt a bit rough around the edges. Since we were new, we joined a fairly empty server.
Because I was an utter noob, a guy there was so kind to give me a tour and teach me how to use some of the machines. Now I know how to cook (cheeseburger and pizza), grow tomatoes in hydroponics lab, see what engineering looks like, a morgue, had a ride in the garbage disposal system, and uh.. an all around overwhelming bunch of information for me, lol. I probably should read the manual at some point. The controls aren't very intuitive at times.
I played as a lizard, which was hilarious when talking in-character, all those extra 'ssss'. Ekssstra sssssssss. 😋 When talking OOC, it was all normal again. Nice detail.
So it looks like this game is played in 'sessions', or shifts?, and in this case that took around 3 hours. Something in the end message about all zombies beaten, no infestations.. not that I ever saw any though. Just saw some mentions of anomalies over the comms. So I'm not really sure yet about the end goals and all that.
But for today I've seen enough. I've got information overload so I'll probably just go back to playing RimWorld now. SS14 is a multiplayer game (and you can host your own server) where you can play with like 100 people, so I can imagine it is a lot of fun when you and a fair amount of friends jump into the game and work together on this station. It's all free and opensource too!
Finally hooked the Deck to the dock from job, and gave it a cabled connection. Streaming from the Deck to my laptop is way more snappy now.

I'm slowly getting into RimWorld again. Wait, no, not slowly. Dived deep into it last night. Slowly adding mods one by one though.
Some mods have already been integrated into core RimWorld (last time I played was during B18, so quite a long time ago, about 5 years I think?), so that's nice.
Already have had a colonist breakdown, she went completely insane as to dig up corpses and parade them around. I'm sure I'm going to witness even weirder events. 😋
Oh yeah, want to make the game really exciting? Definitely open up any Ancient Dangers you encounter! At least I did manage to save the cat!

This is a good thread about ChatGPT, AI, and how one should not blindingly believe their results.
"Hey, can you switch instances? Your admin favorited a joke that I didn't appreciate once. Might need to block you otherwise. Oh, and that crowdfunding platform you use? Back in 2006 they let an organization I don't personally align with use their platform. You should abandon that. Also, -"
Shhhh. Let people enjoy things. I am all for being socially conscious but we can't boycott everything. We are so tired. Please go outside.
Trying to figure out what we need to open up this Blue-Bot and probably need to replace the accu there. We have to buy a very specific screwdriver. Handyman just ordered it, so it's waiting for that now. I suspect we need to replace accus on all 6. Still cheaper than ordering brand new Blue-Bots. Educative hardware is always overpriced.
There are so many more things that need maintenance besides this, like our narrowcasting system. We gotta move on from DVI to HDMI already. Replacing TVs is at the moment iffy as I don't know of many modern TVs with DVI.
Our Tovertafel will soon (in a few weeks) have an internet connection as well, so that we can _finally_ use that stuff after all this time. The principal asked us if we could make a little party out of this when we finally have everything set up and running. Yay. 😋
Plenty of stuff to do, but everything takes a long time before it gets done. It's just very annoying.

I'm having a little bit too much fun trying to see what games I can stream from Deck to laptop.
RimWorld works, with a lower resolution but still fullscreen. I'll have to connect the Deck to a cabled dock sometime then the slightly laggy feeling might even go away. Keyboard shortcuts are available, which is a huge plus with this game.
LEGO The Incredibles worked perfectly fine via streaming. I could even use my own game controller at the laptop. Played this game for a few hours, and the Deck got a bit warm. Not overheating or anything, just very warm.
Backgammon Blitz I had to resort to controller as the mouse clicks didn't get registered very well for some reason. And the controller directions to select the pieces made absolutely no sense, heh. I still won that session with a gammon though. :P

Happy trans visibility day everyone. My support and heart goes out to all of you trying to be yourselves in a world that makes that so difficult at times.
I see you, I love you, and most of all I respect your strength. Im always here if you need someone to talk to
"The Algorithm". I'm sorry, but this is just embarrassing.
It makes far more sense to me to make the right trigger a right mouse click and the left trigger a left mouse click. Usually I'm also being precise with the right trackpad at that point, then my left hand is perfectly available to do a left mousetrigger click.
It'll also be less confusing when a game tells me to rightclick something. 😋

Looks like I managed to crash my Steam Deck. :P (It suddenly rebooted)
I was only trying to add gyro movement to RimWorld, so that I can move around the maps (not mouse movement). Haven't managed to achieve that goal, it just doesn't seem to work.

The game SUPERHOT definitely is made for the gyro. 😃
3D "shooter", no fast reflexes required, definitely need to be able to look all around you. This might be more fun than when I played it on the PC.

I like the gyro in 3D puzzle based games or 3D exploration games, I think. I still need to get used to the controls, and I wonder what the best action is to turn around if I don't want to do a 180 in my lazy chair. 😋
I've played a session of Portal 2 and a bit of Aer. Portal 2 was fun, looking absolutely everywhere with the gyro, though sometimes it's at awkward angles. Gotta figure out what the best strategy is to look around smoothly. I also think I have to rebind a few keys there as having to let go of the gyro to grab or push something is a bit annoying.

*Chuckles* That was adorable.
Teacher with a little girl, who's obviously a bday girl if her festive hat was anything to go by, is going around the classrooms and offices to hand out treats.
She handed me the whole box, and I signed: "Can I have all of that?" She nodded yes. I was wide-eyed, "Allllll of that?!" The teacher signed to her, "Nono, they can't have all of that, it's just one they get out of the box!" Oh yeah!
So the girl signed "One thing" "Oh, phew, okay, thank you, I was already afraid I would have to become fat!" And then I grabbed just one treat out of the box and gave the box back to her, hehe.
The teacher thanked me and I'm just amused by this interaction. 😋

Main account is now on @trinsec
I've resigned as moderator on Qoto.org since 29-aug-2023.
This one is now a backup account, my activities on Qoto will be low.

Used to be on another mastodon server regularly, but it's been inaccessible since November 2020. So I've decided to join Qoto instead! I like the features this server has to offer.
