I found https://latin.stackexchange.com/questions/17247/what-is-the-correct-translation-of-serviamus-in-veritate on a quick look. In Latin, the word order is not as important as the word ending. THAT much I recall from some 40 years ago in High School. I think Dennis1212 (and the link) are correct for the common motto, but if the intent is different from the motto, I'm open to learning more Latin I've forgotten decades ago. @freemo @ufoi

For those unaware of the idiom, "Yak shaving refers to a task, that leads you to perform another related task and so on, and so on — all distracting you from your original goal."

My ORIGINAL goal is "I'd like to micro-blog chat with people over the issues of the day and socialize, like the best of what Twitter could be, only without Twitter.

#UFoI seems to be an insurance policy on keeping Mastodon on that track, but as such is "a related task to the goal." Then Matrix is ... "a related task to a related task..."

@indi Thank you. It appears to promote all sorts of nonsense thinking in a child AND teaches the child you are either an idiot or a liar using dishonesty to keep them in check. Just... No. Please don't do that.

@freemo AND I deleted the local copy as it didn't show me anything of what has currently been changed, so I'm not clear it will do what I intended and I didn't want a "this doesn't work" project folder where I've begun putting Mastodon stuff.

I'll figure out what I need to know in due course.

@Ryle And I've posted there, hopefully a useful approach. I have seen "Hate speech had a very clear legal definition", but then you have the problem of how one jurisdiction may currently define the term legally vs. another jurisdiction, if they define it at *all*. We could use the UN version, which may be totally disagreeable to people in countries who never signed off on that.

But... hopefully there is a solution that simply does without the specific term "hate speech."
