@Surasanji
First, I didn't know ant keeping was a thing. Looks awesome.

When I was in Australia there were this green bottom ants, people ate that green part. It wasn't that bad frankly, i tried quite a few of them (You won't get your belly full, but it's something)

@Absinthe @freemo @mngrif

@dialyzer @Surasanji

I agree with everything @freemo said. I'd just add that federating is a delicate issue, you want freedom of speech, but also other instances to not block you, as that is crippling.

You want people to express themselves freely, which also means not be harassed for every post just because. And also, you want them to reach other people, that means not go into some block list (which is where many free-speech instances go).

Where is the line between hate and reasonable passion? How do you evaluate freedom?

It's very difficult to say, and I think we are also figuring it out as we go along.
So far having a very human approach (trying to solve everything by talking to people, instead of direct block) has proven to work, even if it's more time consuming. Can't say we are perfect though, and we like other users to chip in their thoughts.

I wouldn't know about making ever ban/silencing public... wouldn't want to create any feeling of public shaming or such... but maybe it wont' happen.

@dialyzer
Hi, can you please be more specific on what parts of the rules you are suggesting to remove/modify?

Thanks for the feedback

@freemo @Surasanji

@dantheclamman I see what you mean. Filler words as symptoms of broader problem is interesting, actually I can see them more used by students than by professors, by Ph.Ds less then student...

I am not sure that advocating for them as possibly useful tools is a good point (which is what the articles is trying to bring forward, as I understand), but they have a value, sure thing

@dantheclamman
Seems to me like there is not much here. If you are afraid people are going to interrupt you, just ask them not to do it.
The "being diplomatic" thing seems to me like doesn't belong here... if it's a way of driving the message across, is not a filler. And jumping in is not nice.

I really have troubles with people using filler words and sounds, I get defocused after a very short while =D

just updated our about page. There is some very important information in there so I highly recommend all QOTO users read the updated page.

We updated the wording on our Rules (same rules as before though effectively), added information on our added features and how to use them, links to the various QOTO services we offer (like FunkWhale or NextCloud).

It also contains a short introductory letter/guide on getting started using QOTO. I hope it will be a huge help for many of you. The link is below.

@freemo With Twitter i could, I could also set up a bot to transform their tweets into feed... couldn't with instagram and facebook though.
I was just venting how I profoundly dislike their choice of not using Atom/RSS, actually.

I would like to follow my professor profile on instagram. Also, there are a couple of twitter accounts I like, and some places on facebook that only post there their events.

I could do an account for each of the places I'd like to get info from but frankly, beside the hassle, it would be time consuming to just go in every website every time to check.

Ah, if there only was a technology that allowed us to, oh I don't know, "aggregate" the news... so that I get something like a notification when something happens, and it could even download the content.

Oh, that would be so nice, I'm sure everybody would use it.

Anyone in the fediverse know how to undo an account migration on mastodon? It seems @bongo did it by mistake and I cant figure out how to undo it.

Any help appreciated

@dadegroot dominion is one of the best card games. Seems like a great afternoon!

@sid
That's a good question. I use the name of the subreddits I find them on in the first place (or the sub it would be fit for), than the subject (lewd, depression, fantasy..), and the 'category' like pepe, cage, conversation... I'm not sure about it though, do you have any suggestion?

I like . When I see one I like I want the file, not just see it pass by. One problem I had was how to organize them.

I tried a few ways, including hydra network, but too complicated and setting up your own server was a mess.

Finally, yesterday it dawned on me: I just need something to tag in the metadata!

So I use
* shotwell, a media manager in the repo, which has the option to write the tags in the file.

* to back up and sync with my mobile

* a photo manager, a app available on f-droid which can also search by tag (admittedly, people are not very imaginative with names often =D)

And now my devices are synced, memes are backed up, my memes are tagged, and I feel better with my data hoarding instinct <3

@theodraxis
Thanks, a nice and simple article.

However, a doubt, we are constantly doing more than a thing at a time, how is multitasking defined for the purpose of the studies? Like, I sometimes listen to podcasts while walking or on the bicycle ( or cleaning, or...), and I often read and eat, I mean what are the boundaries between an efficient multitasking and a dangerously inefficient one?

@starbreaker@mastodon.sdf.org it does. But you know, you start small, is a marathon not a sprint

#microblogpub now comes with a setup wizard, Python is not needed anymore for the setup: https://github.com/tsileo/microblog.pub

@HerraBRE Sorry to hear that. You daughter is already testing you!

@starbreaker@mastodon.sdf.org mesh wifi network is a thing, in some areas coverage is actually pretty good

@HerraBRE
This goes both for big and small solutions alike. The lack of a shared way of measuring the environmental impact is problematic but I'm not sure is solvable: factors are a lot, and hard to reduce in simple formulas.

Odum gave it a good shot, ending up with a system which is interesting but IMHO not usable.

Measuring carbon footprint in some other way, such as the direct impact, is oblivious to the indirect effects... it's a topic I'm thinking a lot lately, and in some sectors (I mainly know the agricultural one) some standards are being developed which may be a good start.

@GreenandBlack@sunbeam.city @switchingsocial@mastodon.at

Thanks, is new but seems promising, I'll keep an eye on it!
