I started to try out today, at @arteteco@pixelfed.social , hoping to get a motivational boost in shooting more.

So far, it has a pretty sleek and intuitive UI. @dansup is quite the man!

fun fact: contrary to popular belief, suicides are not actually peaking during holidays, but in spring and fall.

That doesn't prevent many, me for one, to feel like crap during celebrations.

As every year I'm promising myself that next year I'm going to find a way to enjoy, or at least ignore, those evil couple of weeks. I usually forget about it around mid-january, but if someone has a good way to avoid it please do tell me.

This year I went to the office to fix some servers problem, pretending it's not new years eve, but it's working like eating cardboard for a cough.

I went to a local farmers market yesterday, and at the entrance I saw this.
A friend started saying 'that is me and you at the side circles, and the us in the middle, which is bigger than both', but I was all like 'ah, that's alright!'

For a statistics exam I have to choose a dataset, and would like to choose data about the environmental impact of agriculture, or urban agriculture, but can't get more concrete than that... damn, sometimes I forget how the hardest thing is asking the right questions!

Does anyone have a specific curiosity I can satisfy and use for my assignment? =D

I think I discovered a superpower of mine: I'm quite anonymous. I usually have to introduce myself 2-3 times as people don't remember ever meeting me before, and I manage to hang around the same places for a while without anyone saying 'hey, I know you'. If something, I got ask 'hey, are you new here?'. That's so amazing.

My questions for the fediverse are:

* any idea on how to properly test this feeling, like in a good experiment?

* thoughts on how to improve this power of mine?

Crivens!

Setting up a server we plan to use to host , possibly applications like , , , , independent websites and other tools.
Aim is to help local projects, structures and other like-minded people and projects to get the data back in their hands.

We are doing the whole thing as a local node atm, and part of the funds for the server were donated by faircoop. Server itself is physically hosted in Naples, at the Ex-Asilo Filangieri

Exciting times.

I am happy to see how many veggies can grow underneath a small 6 sqm polytunnel.
Right now plants are not doing better than the outside ones, but it's a good insurance in case of bad weather.

Since I do not mulch anymore here (plants are very close), irrigation is automated and I don't have to worry about bad weather... is basically a 1 day job and don't think about it again until food is ready!

Reusable coffee cups are just a drop in the ocean for efforts to save our seas

They are easily marketable strategies to attract 'environmentally-minded' customers though

Come on now, give me your best , you'll help me get idea for some public screening we are planning to do

An update on my small group trying to push for #environmentally friendly practices in my area

It is a nightmare. We had a lot of ideas and projects, which I talked about in another post, and right now we had to go through 3 meetings, have been insulted and are facing a lot of irrational, angry resistance for just proposing to do a 200 liters bin for the kitchen scraps in a leftist, squatted social center.

I'm not sure if being more annoyed to the irrational resistance or to the people that, by supporting the idea, are actively keeping us going there to discuss it... again... and again... and again... since one month and counting.

If their point is draining us of any enthusiasm, it's working like a charm.

I'm not sure it's such a good idea to trade star light for light bulbs

you know what, screw those winclad and bioedit and outdated software.

I'm just going to learn and do everything with it.

First fruits of my pomegranate tree... those seeds look like rubies

I've just redesigned my experimental garden's shape. I couldn't stand all those keyholes and weird paths anymore.

Wrote a small article about it, which is like a long toot with more pictures, in case anyone is curious about it: arteteco.com/20shapes/

My professor wants us to work with BioEdit. This program is:

* , even though free (as in free beer)
* Only works with Windows, can't even manage to install it on VM with Wine.
* **is unmaintained since 2009**.

Please and community, help me find something I can work it that doesn't feel like wearing a shoe filled with beans, or at least install this thing... seems like winxp is slow up to uselessness in VM for some reason.

Thanks!

I'd like to donate my corpse to science, when time comes, but on the other hand I'd hate to see the research done on me to be copyrighted by big journals and to be a part in this closed-source science progression.

I wonder if I can donate my body to science with a Creative Common license...

seems like the experiment of growing oyster mushrooms on simple recycled cardboard is going good, they are pinning easily... not sure how nutritious they'll come up to be though. Any idea on how the boost it?
