@thesecretsarah I don't know what pet that is, but you've made me curious. :)

@ChemBob I'm seeing it left justified over here. It might be theme dependent, I'm using 'Mastodon Default Theme (dark)' here.

@SteelFolk Too many connections at once I think. Chance might get bigger with the advanced interface with many columns.

Those links might give you some insight.

The 'amount of servers blocking us' are mostly less than 100 users each. A very large amount are one-man instances. Only a handful of servers are above the 1000 user count.

@StroomAfwaarts So all those Twitter users need to do over there is doing a like or a follow, and their buddies get infatuated with all that spam that they never asked for.

@StroomAfwaarts
Just checking again...

You also get spam with:
- Your buddy is now following X and you get to see X's tweets that way while _you_ are not following X... That adds up...

@StroomAfwaarts There's one tiny difference...

On Twitter you get spammed to death with:

- Retweets (either quoted or not).
- Your buddy liked X's post.
- Your buddy responded to some X's post.

And if you're lucky you might actually be able to catch an original tweet from your buddy among all the likes, retweets, and responses to god-knows-who.

@StroomAfwaarts In what way? Their retweet can do a normal boost style or a quote-toot style.

@StroomAfwaarts That is silly. Their retweet button is similar to our boost button. :P

@bewildered And the difference is that a reply gives you threaded responses which makes more sense if you want to follow the conversation. ;)

@bewildered Yes. I can recommend you checking out your settings (click on edit profile to get there) carefully. There's a lot of options available. :)

In this case you would want to enable the 'slow mode'. And you might want to make use of the language filters.

@bewildered Also, you seem to be addressing me straightly instead of using the reply button there. That means you make an original first toot every time that's visible in the public timelines. Maybe not quite the intended effect if you wanted to reply to me.

@bewildered
Sometimes an account requires you to apply for following, and then they'll decide whether to allow you to or not.

But maybe you really like them even though they didn't allow you to follow them. So you can follow their public-only toots instead. Just as if you subscribed to an RSS reader. That way you can still read their latest cool stuff.

@bewildered You'll alway be able to see your own toots and replies in your home timeline.

Public toots you've made (not replies) will end up in public timelines like local and federated.

@volkan @bewildered

Following is the usual action, you follow a person, the followed person get a notification that you're following them, and you can see their follower-only posts.

Subscribing is a Qoto-only feature. You can 'follow' a person, but only see their public toots, and they won't get notified that you've subscribed. It's like an RSS feed.

@jamesnovak Heh yeah, this verification fiasco is turning out to be highly confusing!

@robert_gordon_
Blink with your eyes if you're forced to say that by Minnie. 🕵️

All kidding aside, cats are great. ;)

@StroomAfwaarts I went with the latter... as an autist I'm free to take things quite literally. :P
