I hugely appreciate how Star Realms is a card battle game with very clearly defined rules and layout. Its setup is so simple that it can be used to understand other card battle games.

I've played Ascension before. It looked pretty interesting, but I didn't fully grok how it should be exactly played. Not much later I discovered Star Realms and have been playing that a lot ever since.

Now I'm trying out Ascension again. This time they have a tutorial (I just don't remember it being there last time), and I used Star Realms as reference. That made understanding Ascension SO MUCH easier!

All those various groups in Ascension; Enlightened, Lifebound, Mechana, Void.. they're comparable to the factions in Star Realms. The Mystics, Heavy Infantry, etc? That's similar in idea to Explorers. And the Constructs? Those are bases, plain and simple. Just an extra in this game are Monsters, but once you got the rest down that's not too hard a concept to grasp either.

Once I realized those similarities, I've been able to really enjoy playing Ascension. I can actually go explore the various DLCs now that the game has, each one changes the gameplay a little. But the basics are there.

Holy shit, holy shit, finally! The Legend of Korra is now on Netflix Netherlands! Woohoo, it's time to binge!

Oooh, there is a slim chance that elementary schools might have a shorter lockdown period. Maybe my 'holiday' will be cut short by about a week. I'll see. We won't know anything until next year anyway!

For those doing the Steam Sale holiday cards metagame: the Mysterious Cards are dropping now. Craft your badges!

This is Suske, my kitty. People asked me what he looks like. Well, that's what he looks like, a tuxedo cat! He's not too overly happy about being locked indoors in the evenings. ;)

Protip: Cardboard makes for wonderful cat traps!

"I AM READY FOR THE PANDEMIC TO BE DONE!"

Totally the current mood. :P

And if my uncanny win in Love Letters wasn't enough, I also managed to have this huge victory in Backgammon Blitz where my opponent barely had the chance to move its pieces away from the starting position.

So, yeah, an astounding gammon victory for me! If only real life was this easy... :P

That was a weird winning streak in Love Letters... this rarely if ever happens. Usually it's a close call with only 1 or 2 hearts difference!

There, last batch of laptops arrived on time. Unpacked the whole deal and registered every laptop in an Excel sheet, making an overview which people are left for deployment. We might have 1 or 2 spare, which is good. This way we can ensure everybody can work from home.

Quite short notice, but we're going to have a hard lockdown this midnight already here in the Netherlands. It's going to last until 19 January. Oh boy.

Time to quickly do last-minute arrangements of laptop deployment so all personnel here will have the means to work from home. We still have tomorrow to arrange things, schools close on wednesday.

*Om nom nom* Xmas cookies at job. 😋

*Eats a chocolate chip cookie*

Watching Alien Worlds on Netflix now. I think this programme is actually an Earth nature documentary in a sneaky way.

'Here we have <alien species> roaming in the sky. It can be compared to <earth species> and <other earth species>.'

And then you get great videos of both worlds' animals in their alien/natural habitats. Definitely a sneaky Earth nature programme with some alien stuff thrown in to lure people into watching that. It's genius!

We got in quite a situation over in Rohan.

Protip: They hate fire! Just in case you run into a Nazgûl yourself! It might save your life someday!

Wheeeeee! Went grocery shopping and bought the latest comic album, Suske & Wiske #355! That's going to be fun reading today!

Having a notepad window open next to this old skool adventure game. I'm trying to hack into some computer system and I don't even know why. But I have to. Oh well... *takes some more notes and continues hacking*

Says alot when these COVID conspiracy idiots tell you your wrong and not even following the official data and make it a point to block you before you can even link to the official data that agrees with what was said.

I guess its a rush to stick your head in the sand before someone actually has a chance to provide real evidence that might challenge your dogma.

THE GREATEST HITS GAME BUNDLE
storybundle.com/games
For $30, almost 100 game-related ebooks.

Pondering for myself whether the latest StoryBundle is worth getting. My gaming interests are a bit niche, I'm probably interested in just a few books. Still, looks like a pretty good bundle for a huge game enthusiast who likes to read.

Every year, the Men's Club (women can join too) of our school group are working together to DIY up yet another Xmas ornament/furniture for our auditorium.

Now we've got giant wooden Xmas trees littering the place. It's getting fuller every year. I wonder if we ever get to a point where you simply can't enter that damn room anymore. 😂

So, I've had my physical exercise for today. Filled up a cage container with the old computer equipment that's going away. They're too outdated now; Stuff with VGA ports and DVI ports, old cables, old mice and keyboards. We're switching over to laptops for the most part.
