Anyone able to help me out here with identifying this bug? I can't spend 10 minutes in my garden without having at least one waltzing over me. They're annoying just because there are so many of them! They're like, say, 5mm tall or so, not huge. The pic should show that clearly unless you really believe that those fingers belong to a giant. Location is in the Netherlands.

This is a righteous mess. I think I need to reorganize my base. I'm too lazy, though. :P

... Oh lol. A coworker had trouble connecting her work laptop to job via VPN at home. So my boss went to troubleshoot with her.

Turns out that she didn't connect the laptop to the internet at all at her home. "Did I have to connect my laptop to my WiFi?" ... well, yes, yes... how did she think the thing would have access to VPN?

She's actually quite a diginoob, this is not the first incident. Keeps the job interesting I suppose. ๐Ÿ˜‚

She's a great teacher otherwise. Just make sure you've explained anything techy beforehand. In detail. ;)

We're searching for the right sizes of stuff that can be pushed with the bulldozer cover on those robots. I think I've found the perfect one, a lightweight plastic bowl of 12 by 12 cm in diameter. (The grid is 15 by 15) We can do the perfect Sokoban scenario with this.

Coworker volunteered to paint the bowl. He loves to be creative with his hands. ;)

I also decided to check out which of the Blue-Bots are calibrated by letting them rotate 4 times to form a circle. The new penholders are great for this.

Number 3 and 5 have the worst results (the circles aren't closed at all) so I've put them aside as they won't be great to test with. I'll have to examine them sometime.

My coworker is very enthusiastic about the new accessoires we got for the Blue-Bot and we both had plenty of ideas. So our first step is to prepare a whiteboard with a grid so we can try to put our ideas at work.
Chances are we can create some lesson materials, we have the means to do so.

Been testing out the new pen holders for the Blue-Bots. Don't mind the schematics of something else on the smaller piece of paper, that is for the Tovertafel (magic table) which we're also busy with setting up.

Anyway, yeah, you can see in the bigger piece of paper that the drawing went out of bounds. I had to scrub the floor clean. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ ๐Ÿ˜…

We've got some nice plans for this one, kinda in the idea of tangram. We'll make a few pre-defined drawings, and then the kids can try and replicate it on their own with those robots.

Of course they can also make their own drawings. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Oh, right. Forgot alt-text:
A desk surface with a heap of silver colored accus, some still in plastic packaging. There's one old red accu in that mess. On the right is a Blue-Bot upside-down. There's also a screwdriver visible. In the background a keyboard. Generally it's just an all-around mess of accus scattered everywhere.

It does look like 2 of those accus are DOA, so we'll replace them under warranty.

Been replacing all the accus in those Blue-Bots. Need to charge them overnight to be 100% ready.

Can we please stop throwing around the threat of defederation?

Defederation shouldn't happen unless an instance is a cesspool full of terrible behavior with an admin unwilling to deal with it.

Annoyances like spam can be dealt with by admins without scorching the Earth and going nuclear.

Lets not turn the #Fediverse, where instance are supposed to be part of a larger collection, into islands of instances that have cut themselves off from others because of annoyances.

I can't help but laugh at reading this sentence. It's so weird when taken out of context.

Even when you know the context it's still weird. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Another mastodon.social spam attack is underway. They have been silenced yet again.

Totally broken now. Day 2 of trimming the big shrubs and tree. Not 100% done yet but the bin is almost full, so that's for the coming days to top it up until pickup day.
Dad also came along with his chainsaw-on-a-stick to help me out with the high up branches.
The shrubbery and tree look better now. I also found out that the murderous tall needles on the tree are actually very capable of penetrating the soles of my boots. Ow.

Avatar the last Airbender is still a great series. I'm currently rewatching this. Comfort food for my eyes I suppose. :)

Me riding a snow giraffe. Handy, now I can't get stuck in the powdered snow where you can 'drown' to the cold. That's apparently a feature introduced in 1.17, and the giraffe is from a mod Creatures from the Snow.

Managed to find the first Eye of many required to advance in this modpack Legend of the Eyes.

It was nice stumbling upon this thread about some time back and seei g the overwhelming support for this instance from the wider community:

๐Ÿ‘€ #TIL Monopoly wasn't invented by the Parker Brothers, nor the man they gave it credit for. In 1904, Monopoly was originally called The Landlord's Game, and was invented by a radical woman. Elizabeth Magie's original game had not one, but two sets of rules to choose from.
One was called "Prosperity", where every player won money anytime another gained a property. And the game was won by everyone playing only when the person with the least doubled their resources. A game of collaboration and social good.
The second set of rules was called "Monopoly", where players succeeded by taking properties and rent from those with less luck rolling the dice. The winner was the person who used their power to eliminate everyone else.
Magie's mission was to teach us how different we feel when playing Prosperity vs Monopoly, hoping that it would one day change national policies.
When the Parker Bros adopted the game, they erased the "Prosperity" rules and celebrated "Monopoly".

Conclusion: It is 90% certain that the accus are worn out and thus the Bluebots aren't responding correctly anymore.

We'll order 6 new accus... and while we're ordering anyway, also a shitton of other accessoires to augment the Bluebot experience. The principal gave us the go-ahead. :D

Just a shame that all educative things are so expensive. But oh well, the school's got a budget for this kind of stuff I guess.
