According to a 19th century legend, the Truth and the Lie meet one day. The Lie says to the Truth: "It's a marvelous day today!โ€ The Truth looks up to the skies and sighs, for the day was really beautiful.

They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well. The Lie tells the Truth: "The water is very nice, let's take a bath together!" The Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice. They undress and start bathing.

Suddenly, the Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of the Truth and runs away. The furious Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find the Lie and to get her clothes back. The World, seeing the Truth naked, turns its gaze away, with contempt and rage.

The poor Truth returns to the well and disappears forever, hiding therein, its shame. Since then, the Lie travels around the world, dressed as the Truth, satisfying the needs of society, because, the World, in any case, harbors no wish at all to meet the naked Truth.

@freemo I got inspired by your domain for Mastodon so I came up with โ€˜queyโ€™ meaning โ€˜little baby cowโ€™๐Ÿ˜

So I've been porting the open-source :opensource: mmorpg / MUD game I've been writing here (in java :Java: ) github.com/Syncleus/AetherMUD

The new game is written in Ruby :ruby: same idea though. It can be found here now github.com/Syncleus/Aethyr

It is a text based multi-player online game called a MUD. You don't even need a client to play, just telnet in to the server.

I've been working on porting over and improving the code that renders an area map. I finally have all the functionality ported over! I attached a screen shotto show what it looks like.

That is Sabah. When I left the US I left him with my sister. I knew I couldn't give him a good life with how hectic immigration is. For many years he has been happy and loved by my sister's kids and my sister herself. Today he was put to sleep because of cancer. He is a good boy, and I'm sorry I couldn't be there for him. I'll miss you Sabah, thank you so much for looking after my niece, nephew, and sister all these years.

Asked my friend who's life he'd live if he could live any life throughout history. He replied "That rat that died from pressing the dopamine button too many times".

Hey there and !

Hope you're all having a fantastic day! Lovely blue skies here in Tel Aviv, a day I'm wishing I could lay out in the sun and just enjoy it. I've got work, unfortunately, but that can be nice, too.

So, for today is as follows:

What is a combination of foods you've discovered that maybe isn't standard and might sound a little odd. You gotta love it, though.

I've got a thing for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on toast with hot sauce.

I was trying to explain to a friend in lamens terms why dark matter is so hard to detect while other weakly interacting particles were a bit easier (like neutrinos). It all comes down to mass.

If you could only interact with an object by blowing on it (an analogy for weak interactions) you could easily influence a fast moving feather (an analogy for a light neutrino). However if it were a bowling ball you can blow on it all you want and it wouldn't be effected at all (an analogy for Dark Matter).

I'm surprised this took so long. GWAS is hard because of nonlinear and complex relationships between individual components (genes), object recognition is complex because of complex relationships between individual components (pixels).

In 2012, the latter is essentially solved. In 2017, people start applying it to the former.

Good night you all for caring about me, for reading what I don't object of they don't. But when will France send Gojira to the sole condition that 8% of their total income goes to the highest bidders, to the moon

I've said it before and I'll say it again. People with down syndrome are so unashamedly loving that they aren't the one with the problem, they aren't the ones with the disorder, we are.

After yesterday's 16 km (10 mile) ride I was very sore even at the beginning and my pace was really slow for this ๐Ÿšฒ ride. But I managed to get in 21 km (13 miles) and at a really good heart rate too. Thats technically a half-marathon! Considering it was two days in a row I'll take it as a win.
