@drdrowland Yes, you can follow Pixelfed users from here. Their posts will be looking the same as all other posts you see in our timelines, but over there at Pixelfed you'd be able to have a collection going and such.

You could just check it out. If it's not working for you then you can drop the idea of Pixelfed and just post the pics here with your posts a la Twitter. :)

But this is the power of Federated software. PeerTube is a YouTube alternative, and I can follow their accounts/channels from the comfort of my Mastodon account as well. When you check the Federated Timeline, chances are you already saw a lot of non-Mastodon posts that you were simply not aware of.

It's all pretty spiffy and will only get better in the future. :)

@drdrowland Ooh. If you're heavily into displaying images, and want a federated photo album, maybe a Pixelfed instance might be of interest to you. It's basically the Fediverse's answer to Instagram.

You can check out pixelfed.org where you can also choose a server just like you had to with Mastodon.

@dichotomiker
What about this scenario:
I don't follow Foo.
Foo is not on my instance.
Nobody on my instance follows Foo.
I follow somebody from another instance who boosted Foo.
I should see Foo's boosted post on my home timeline.

Doesn't seem to be covered in that image.

@lydiaconwell Too bad! I'll change my profile picture again after Halloween is over! :P

@drdrowland That's very possible. Everything new is always prone to investigating first before you grok it reasonably well.

@drdrowland I dunno, I found Twitter to be way more complicated.

But you're right, Mastodon indeed seems better than Twitter. ;)

@lydiaconwell Hehe. I have to be diplomatic, he's my neighbour. :P

But he can perfectly wait until I'm feeling healthy again before I work in the garden again. Otherwise he can do it himself, indeed.

@peterdrake Every Mastodon account has an RSS feed. Basically subscribing here means not following them, but subscribing to their RSS feed instead.

It's useful for a few cases. For example, their server might've blocked Qoto, but we can still see their content (sorta), then we can follow their public posts by subscribing.
Or they have a locked account where they are very strict on accepting new followers, but you like their posts and then you could subscribe to them so you don't miss out on their cool posts.

@MightyHumbleBumble I'd suggest to use the web interface instead, it is very mobile friendly. Qoto is a modified Mastodon instance, thus many apps might not play very nicely with this.

@STORM Indeed, we haven't had those either for the past decade or so. ;)

@StroomAfwaarts Nah, die horden mensen zijn melkvee die hen gratis limonade verschaft. ;)

@StroomAfwaarts @Lucseleventje @martijn Neat. Maar ook lastig. Als ik iets vies moet innemen, doe ik mijn neus dicht en slik het gauw door...

Jij moet dat de hele tijd proeven. :D

@GuusvanLienen@mastodon.social I've long ago given up on putting my oven on the right time. What matters is that you remember the current Oven Time <tm> and then count off the right amount of minutes.

Or just grab your smartphone and use a wonderful timer app. :P

@inspired To avoid getting another pic taken, most likely.

@inspired Hehe, yours seems to make quite a mess of it. :D

Just had my neighbour at the door. He asked if I could trim the plants from my garden which are hanging over the fence into his garden. The leaves are dropping and making a mess of that corner of the garden apparently.

I told him he's perfectly allowed to trim the part hanging over the fence. But he actually wants _me_ to trim them because they are _my_ plants. (Very specifically emphasizing that, _my_ plants.)

No can do, I said. Arm hurts, so it would be a while. Maybe I'd get around to it at the start of spring. It's why my garden's been unswept for a while now. Then he asked if I could call in someone else's help to trim the plants for me... 🤨

He had 'enough stuff to do' that he couldn't do it he said. Uh, well, yeah, my arm gotta heal first, so I can't do it and no, I can't call anyone for it either. 'But it is a neighbourly thing to do', yeah well, you'll have to wait then. He asked if I could do it in like 2 months' time or so? Eventually yeah, because 'snoeien doet groeien' (trimming makes the plants grow).

But that's kinda weird to me, because in 2 months the leaves would be gone and it'd be after the fact for the reason he wanted those plants trimmed in the first place. 😜

Anyway, so yeah. I definitely want to trim them eventually, probably early spring. But that he wants _me_ to trim them and not do a thing himself at all, feels like a bit a weird vibe to me. If he'd just cut off the parts hanging over the fence now, then there'd be less mess in his garden sooner. :blobshrug:

@StroomAfwaarts @Lucseleventje @martijn Yeah, I knew that. Just curious what other senses get enhanced in your case?
