@War_Kittens I wonder if that's how our parents must feel too (but a bit worse).

@War_Kittens
Honestly, there's only a few suggestions I can make when you want to connect with your buddies on a server that blocks us:

- You move to a server that can connect with them.
- They move to another server that can connect with us.

Additionally, you or them can create a 2nd account.

That's totally up to you all, and that's something you'll have to discuss among yourselves. But the reasons given for the blocking is ancient, and some detest us because _we_ don't block the same stuff like they do. You can't please everyone I guess.

@freemo

@imasdemase
That is correct.

The only exception to unlisted is if the bot "looks" like it is a real person. That is, they respond to comments and are otherwise active in the community.

If it is just an informational bot that provides no responses, then it must be unlisted.

@War_Kittens
Qoto is blocked by a few instances, not a 'decent amount'. This is one of the most connected servers around.

We also have clearly defined rules as per our About page: qoto.org/about/more

So if there are instances blocking us for trans/homophobia, they're very mistaken. @freemo would be absolutely livid if one of the users on Qoto would be expressing trans/homophobia.

The thing about Twitter is that it really lacks a lot of the features you'd expect from a true Mastodon replacement.

For example, there's no way to edit your toots (which they, confusingly call "tweets"—let's face it, it's a bit of a silly name that's difficult to take seriously).

"Tweets" can't be covered by a content warning. There's no way to let the poster know you like their tweet without also sharing it, and no bookmark feature.

There's no way to set up your own instance, and you're basically stuck on a single instance of Twitter. That means there's no community moderators you can reach out to to quickly resolve issues. Also, you can't de-federate instances with a lot of problematic content.

It also doesn't Integrate with other fediverse platforms, and I couldn't find the option to turn the ads off.

Really, Twitter has made a good start, but it will need to add a lot of additional features before it gets to the point where it becomes a true Mastodon replacement for most users.

@HagbardCeline I thought that instance blocked us but I'm not seeing qoto.org in their blocklist...

Alright, the better way to follow people is to copy the URL address of their profile page in your Qoto's search bar. That way you can follow them from within Qoto's interface which might be more convenient.

waffle game results

@savourtardis The best result you can have is 5 swaps left. In this case you have 4 swaps left (4 stars) which is also pretty good.

Mastodon Feature Wish

@ceoln @jacmoe Well, I made a crude play on the 'drive-by-<whatever>' words. Instead of that it is scrolling by, and then commenting here and there and then just continue scrolling after.

It's a pretty efficient way for me to scroll through the feed but still be able to dish out comments.

@imasdemase I see, you are making a bot. Keep in mind that bots are bound to rules.

The bot needs to post unlisted and needs to be marked as a bot in the profile.

If you want to test a lot, do it unlisted as to not spam the feed.

@taz Hehe no worries. Lol. I wouldn't have realized the truth about that instance myself if I hadn't seen an announcement about it a few days ago. ;)

@taz Just letting you know that everything from the brands.town instance are spoofs. ;)

@bobbensonbill Have fun at your new home. Life long and prosper!

Mastodon Feature Wish

@ceoln I actually like the current behavior. That way I can scroll-by-comment. ;)

Though having a toggle for it wouldn't be a bad idea I suppose. Suggest it at the Mastodon github or wherever they have this stuff?
