@jq @skanman Terribly. It was so horrifically provocative that I'm going to bed. (It's past midnight now).

@jq
I said American cheese, not American people. Though American people certainly can be cheesy, but that trait is not limited to Americans.

@skanman

@jq
To be fair... it's hard to unfairly accuse American cheese for being plastic-like. 😅

@skanman

@skanman @jq
Oh a propos Food Giant... I think during my stay there it was taken over by Ahold, which is a Dutch company. In that time period I started to see some improvements in that supermarket which reminded me of Dutch supermarkets. I thought that was cool. 😁

@skanman
Well, yes, I did buy a Gouda sometimes at Food Giant. But it was a bit pricier and it's not an usual ingredient to any of the foods I order.

@jq

@jq
I think you shouldn't take the plastic part literally here. It's more like that it looks like plastic and kind of tastes like it too to somewhat cultured taste buds. It only starts to have somewhat an okay-ish taste when heated up a bit, since they also feel less like plastic by that point.

(Yes I've lived in USA for 4 years.. I missed my Gouda and Edam terribly much in that time. 😋 )

@skanman

@jq Again, boo, hiss! ;)

And it's not just Americans having a plastic culture, Europeans have it too. Actually, even Asians do that, they really love their plastic bags. 😬 Almost the whole world loves those throwaway plastic bags.

I'd read an article this morning; Half of the papers and 40% of the plastics are all packaging materials. Which isn't so very surprising if you look at deliveries with gigantic boxes for a pack of chewing gum for example. 😬

@isaactly_s
You do realize that if everybody'd go vegan, there'd be little reason for the cows to exist with the current amounts, and thus you'd see a lot less cows in general? This little cow might not have existed even.

Not that I mind people going vegan, but things aren't as simple as they seem.

@buitengebieden

@skanman
But there are differences in cheeses. Most of American cheese is just plastic! 😜

Which reminds me of the throw-away culture that the Westerners have with plastic stuff.

Not all culture is good. 😬

Oh wait, this is the pineapples-does-not-belong-on-pizza topic, not the thought provoking topic. Although one stems from the other. 😋

@jq

@jq Nice save. 😋 (But pineapple still doesn't belong on a pizza!)

@jq
They must all be uncultured Americans. After all, it's about bedtime for most of Europe. 😜

@skanman

@jq There are real Italian pizzerias over there, aren't there? USA had a lot of Italian immigrants.

That said, if an Italian pizzeria does serve a Pizza Hawaii, I'd be very wary of it! 😋

@jq I do not want to know you anymore!

You've obviously never had a REAL Italian pizza! You poor deluded soul!

@jq Liking pineapple on pizza is a good start for it though! 😋

@barefootstache
Right, I knew there was some nuance to it, but I couldn't quite remember which. Mostly people just used the term sushi with an icky face to show their disgust for raw fish.

@jq

@jq Hahahahaha, I was thinking about starting a poll like this too. Thanks, now I don't have to do the work. 😋
