Went on a late-night gardening spree until it got too dark. The temperature was lovely. I think I need garden lamps.
The bin's now full enough for tomorrow's pickup. :)

Lazy day for me today. Although I actually got around to trying out the Steam Dock that I picked up this sale. Works great with my Steam Deck. Just played a session of LEGO The Incredibles on the big TV screen and a controller hooked up.

I offer free tutoring in most college level #STEM courses. Can be online, just random questions, video chat, or even in person.
If anyone needs help learning any STEM topic (even you arent in school), please reach out to me I am always happy to help. If I dont know the subject I can also maybe connect you with someone who does, but I am well versed on most of the basics like #Math, #Biology #statistics #BigData #programming #Chemistry #Medicine #ElectricalEngineering and #RF design.
@trinsec @freemo This one sort of does that. A "dot for every vote".

Ha, neat. The Dutch government has their own Mastodon instance now.
After the Twitter debacle where you couldn't see posts without being logged in for a while, and it coincidenced with a storm with many emergency messages pointing to Twitter, they decided to take this step. :D
They're still prepping up everything, but it should be here:

Apparently using *they* as a singular pronoun (to use instead of *he* and *she*) is hardly a new phenomenon. It dates back to 1375 in written records!
In fact, singular *you* is much more recent! Dating back to the 17th century! 😂
Oh, this quote's fun, and it shows that our gender-related issues has been going on for centuries:
> In 1794, a contributor to the New Bedford Medley mansplains to three women that the singular they they used in an earlier essay in the newspaper was grammatically incorrect and does no ‘honor to themselves, or the female sex in general.’ To which they honourably reply that they used singular they on purpose because ‘we wished to conceal the gender,’ and they challenge their critic to invent a new pronoun if their politically-charged use of singular they upsets him so much.

I'd say it's probably safe to use *they* in general. I do use singular *they* regularly and it's the least fuss imo.
The crazy part about this is, that Meta didn't HAVE to subvert the protocol or find ways to bribe instance admins into showing their ads.
All they had to do was **announce **they'd be supporting a supplementary protocol some time in the future, and part of the Fediverse start acting exactly counter to the ideal of an open protocol, thus starting the almost inevitable downfall of a network that worked extremely well, in some incarnations, for more than ten years.
Imagine Mail or SMS starting to fracture into cells of smaller networks, because Mail Provider A does not think their users should be able to email users from B and C, while C doesn't talk to D and D won't let you receive mail from A. Imagine not being able to send a SMS to T-Mobile number, because Sprint doesn't think you should be able to, and Telefonica blocking Cyta, because Vodafone is blocking PrimeTel...
Yeah, let's do that. Zuckerberg hasn't even entered the ring, and you already threw the towel.
Just swept the garden. The only traces left of the storm are various stray leaves between my plants. Whenever it's gorgeous gardening weather I'll bother cleaning those up as well.
There’s been a lot of speculation around what Threads will be and what it means for Mastodon. We’ve put together some of the most common questions and our responses based on what was launched today:

You know the phrase that the grass is greener at the other side? Ok, maybe not grass here, but my neighbours at either side of my house certainly have a lot more branches to deal with than I do.
It isn't really that windy anymore so I walked a small round around my neighbourhood to check up on damages. Didn't see toppled trees or damaged roofs or missing solar panels which is a good thing. The street was full of leaves and twigs but otherwise still accessible. But the walkway behind our gardens was littered with huge branches. Exactly at the spots of the garden entrances of both neighbours. 🤣
I'm lucky my garden is basically between those 2 huge trees in the park behind our gardens. 😅 I've got only some small sweeping job to do.
When you think 'where are all those little birds hiding in this severe weather?' the answer is likely 'under dense low foliage'.
When it started raining again, I saw quite a lot of little great titties hopping from underneath the shrubbery in front of my house, probably searching for worms. They're fine. And cute.
My other neighbour's garden had a very big branch fallen on top of the trampoline there. As if the branches aren't bouncy enough today!
Main account is now on @trinsec
I've resigned as moderator on Qoto.org since 29-aug-2023.
This one is now a backup account, my activities on Qoto will be low.

Used to be on another mastodon server regularly, but it's been inaccessible since November 2020. So I've decided to join Qoto instead! I like the features this server has to offer.
