'Last July the first predictive clinical test based on the gut microbiome was approved in Europe. The test, called BiomeOne, was developed by Vienna-based biotech BiomeDx. It analyzes the DNA in gut microbes of patients with cancer and predicts who are most likely to have success with immunotherapy.'

That means the index might be small if we don't spread the word.

Nice conversation, I have learned a few things about religion.
I believe @freemo was quite precise and informative and that your reaction is excessive.

Anyways, you should always try to get the best out of a discussion, even when you're discussing with an idiot. You should choose a subject of discussion which is interesting to both and conduct the discussion in a way that is appreciated by both.
If you don't like the discussion, you failed to make it interesting. I'm not saying the other person has no responsibility, but all you can control are your actions. It's generally possible to get a good conversation even with a troll.

You know what's worse than people who are idiots?
People who are idiots and think they are smart.
This is why I am annoyed, cause you dragged this out so much, providing little slivers of hope that it could actually be a serious conversation, only for it to end up in an idiotic, totally incoherent word salad that anyone with a shred of sense can understand is nonsense.
I'm pissed that I fell for your grift, yes. Lesson learnt.

Calling you a troll is a courtesy. It means you don't actually believe that drivel, I was offering you an out cause the alternative is you are simply brain damaged or a progressive zealot (which is actually worse).

Now you try to take the high moral ground like a proper troll. So I'll settle on the troll hypothesis. You're good troll. I fell for it. A+

@Corfiot

Amazing you managed to get triggered and petty over this... do you realize how immature you look right now?

@matrix @hasmis

@farooqkz >"I don't like to discuss this further...."

Black resigns.

For the rest of you, here's how it plays out...

If farooqkz says that the guys in my toot above are not Muslim, then Islamic law does not apply to them, so what's the problem?

If farooqkz says that they are Muslim, then people can be Muslim and still believe that gay sex is fine, in which case the issue is a choice and farooqkz is saying that his position is his choice -- he is choosing to be homophobic.

@freemo @BobKerns @tonic

I'm not discussing this with you anymore. I will never agree with this made up nonsense.

@Corfiot

I agree, I cannot fathom your mental gymnastics on this.

My guess is you are refering to organized religion, and specifically the organization part and not the religion itself at all.

You have three levels

1) Religious Canon (the texts themselves)
2) Religion (The texts coupled with a specific interpritation)
3) Organized religion (A group of people that practice and enforce a specific interpritation)

@matrix

I wonder what it would take for the #GOP to finally disavow #Trump.

Like maybe you think he's an immoral person, maybe you don't. But over the past year alone--a time period in which he has done precious little save begin his 2024 campaign--it's pretty obvious that he's out of touch with the #GOP base, and furthermore, he isn't tethered to truly conservative ideals.

It can't be described as much more than blind idolatry when you have a camp who believes that #Trump is the messiah while also believing that #COVID19 vaccines are the mark of the Beast.

The absurdity is starkly apparently when typing this out...this is ridiculous man

@Clementulus @freemo Hah, it's fun to deconstruct the words we use. A friend of mine is Jamaican, a Rastafarian. He won't use the word "understand". It makes no sense. He says "overstand" instead.

@freemo
Prosidering would be form a thought by looking side-eye at a bunch of data points without "considering" what they mean when brought together.
And to quibble about latin: it should be exversing and suffix technically XD

My favorite futuretime: outversing the postfix of words I say and prosidering what their new meaning might be.

@freemo thanks again for providing this server for me to lurk from. You and the other admins have been doing a good job for my experience on the Fediversr

Outsult
Noun
1. An insult applied by someone that actually reflects badly on them, outing them in some way.

My favourite recent outsult was being called a "thesaurus trying to impress people by looking intelligent" because I know what words like "hyperbole" and "sardonic" mean.

No, little dude, this is actually just how I talk because I'm well read and literate. Good to know where YOUR bar is, though.

Just a reminder, being a horrible person shoukdnt be tolerated simply because they claim their religion says so.... **YOU** choose one of any number of interpritations of your religion that caused you to be a horrible person. Thats not your religions fault, thats just you finding an excuse to be a shit human. No one needs to tolerate you being a shit human just because your a religious shit human.

That is all...

Please boost even if this isn't for you. On Mastodon, favoriting is not like 'liking' on the other site. All it does is it tell the writer you liked it, there is no algorithm.

But something I’d like to see as part of GE is a course in formal logic—potentially a requirement that could be met either with a comp sci course or with a philosophy course on symbolic logic or the like.

Not posted for agreement, if you share please leave my commentary intact, terms and conditions apply.

Like practically every other man, and every other human being regardless of gender, I'm strong in some ways, weak in others. Saying "strong men are ..." anything in particular is part of the problem: it carries with it the implication that men must be strong, in every way and all the time. Well, I feel good when I'm strong, but I'm trying really hard to learn not to beat myself up about weakness. That does nobody any good, not me and not the other people who want me in the world.

Same for other men: our ruthless enforcement of arbitrary rules of masculinity has a lot to do with why we have much higher rates of alcoholism and suicide. I went too far down that road once in my life. I'm not doing it again, and I'm not pushing anyone else down it either.

The older I get, the more I believe there's no real difference between "good man" and "good person who happens to be a man." Good *people* are protective and loving—when they need to be, and also capable of acknowledging when they themselves need protection and love. Good people also, of course, refrain from abuse and spite. When they feel themselves going in that direction, they try to understand what's driving their anger, and open up to the people who love them. The alternative is bottling it up until they lash out, at which point they're no longer good.

Mr. Aleczander's heart is in the right place, I'm sure. I don't criticize him or any man for struggling to reconcile ancient ideas of manhood with overall human decency. Let's all just try not to repeat the same mistakes.
