@sergeant I didn't go to the gym today and am still consistent.

I mean, I never go to the gym. 😋

Respect to your discipline though!

@jellycrystals OH fuck those pyromaniacs! I never rescue them! Nothing but trouble that whole lot!

You could say I hate them with a burning passion! 😋

@skyblond Mmm, interesting. As a deaf person I never found it very jarring. Unless they're speaking a language that is fairly close-ish enough to my language, like Swedish or German, that I can lipread a few things. But if I can't lipread, it doesn't bother me, heh.

@urusan I'm kinda partial to the Ancient Egyptians and the Roman Empire around that time.

@peterdrake Sometimes small tight games are the best games.

@skyblond Yes, you have to move your head to see the different screens. That's what I mean, with a real setup you rarely need to.

@skyblond If you can get an actual triple monitor setup, I'd rather have that than this in the video. Mostly because of the actual.. how do you call it, in Dutch would be 'ruimtelijke inzicht', you are there, you can see all at the same time, even in the corner of your eyes. But with glasses on, 'corner of your eye' is pretty useless.

But if you're stuck with a laptop with split screen, then, I guess this might be a nice thing. I wonder if you play splitscreen each could see only their own part of the splitscreen?

Haven't watched the whole video, just skimmed through it.

@alfredo_liberal It's actually piecemeal uptodate, so the version number's misleading. But, yes, we're sortakinda a bit behind but not as bad as that number would lead you to believe. If you happen to know some Mastodon dev to help update this server, you could refer them to the admin of this instance. It would be a paid gig. ;)

@alfredo_liberal That's totally up to you of course, but it looks like you've already settled in. Welcome to Qoto. ;)

@alfredo_liberal The default is actually 500, so you already were on a somewhat modified server if it was 1000. 😃

But I agree, that's not quite enough yet. I think my sweet spot would've been around 4000, like my previous instance before that crashed into oblivion. I certainly can live with 65k. 😉

@peterdrake It's not a bad game, nice to explore and see those ruins which you then explore and solve some puzzles. Eventually you'll have explored a bunch of those and get to a sort of conclusion.

@Krisss
Yeah, some Mastodon instances are modified, like Qoto.org. But there are also other type instances than Mastodon, like MissKey, CalcKey, Pleroma, Akkoma, which support higher character counts by default.

@alfredo_liberal

I've tried out some Space Station 14 with a buddy. It was interesting, it kinda had a MUSH vibe. Join a server, take on a role and then join the station. The game still felt a bit rough around the edges. Since we were new, we joined a fairly empty server.

Because I was an utter noob, a guy there was so kind to give me a tour and teach me how to use some of the machines. Now I know how to cook (cheeseburger and pizza), grow tomatoes in hydroponics lab, see what engineering looks like, a morgue, had a ride in the garbage disposal system, and uh.. an all around overwhelming bunch of information for me, lol. I probably should read the manual at some point. The controls aren't very intuitive at times.

I played as a lizard, which was hilarious when talking in-character, all those extra 'ssss'. Ekssstra sssssssss. 😋 When talking OOC, it was all normal again. Nice detail.

So it looks like this game is played in 'sessions', or shifts?, and in this case that took around 3 hours. Something in the end message about all zombies beaten, no infestations.. not that I ever saw any though. Just saw some mentions of anomalies over the comms. So I'm not really sure yet about the end goals and all that.

But for today I've seen enough. I've got information overload so I'll probably just go back to playing RimWorld now. SS14 is a multiplayer game (and you can host your own server) where you can play with like 100 people, so I can imagine it is a lot of fun when you and a fair amount of friends jump into the game and work together on this station. It's all free and opensource too!
