@peterdrake Wait, you managed to reach the mythical Inbox Zero?

Oh man, we are not worthy!

@physicsninja Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse! I'm sure you'll fit right in!

@smokefire @HumanITy Oh come on, we're better than that! We're on a microblogging platform, but this ain't Twitter! ;)

But if you know how Twitter works, this should be easy to figure out as well. Make sure to read our server rules and take some time to explore your settings, there are so many options!

@smokefire There are whole instances devoted to nasty stuff. Rightwing instances for example. Best is just to block their domains if they agitate you. Qoto doesn't block anything by default, we leave that power in the hands of the users.

@c_ratcliffe You know, I bet many tech lovers think this too!

@manojpawar Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse!

As you can see from another comment, there will always be people who are not that friendly. Thankfully our block features are excellent and you, as user, can block whole domains if they're filled with people like them! :)

@quest

A hint I can give is that the Fediverse (of which Mastodon is part) uses hashtags heavily for finding content. So you could search for topics you're interested in with hashtags.

You could also browse the local timeline and the federated timeline

You could also post an introduction of yourself with topics you're interested in, add hashtags of the keywords.

Mastodon (and other Fediverse servers) do not rely on algorithms, so you'll have to get active to find a nice list of people to follow. Maybe check out the followfridays or ff tags as well to get some more ideas.

If you find somebody you want to follow, check their followers too, maybe there's yet another like-minded individual you can follow.

This way the network spreads out slowly and naturally.

Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse!

@shibaprasad I don't know what client that is. Have you tried the mobile web interface instead? It's already mobile friendly and enables you to use Qoto's extra features.

@Decad3nce Qoto's custom features are found in the About this server link.

There's one type of modified Mastodon that seems to be the second standard (I don't know for sure, I just think that), maybe it is of interest Mastodon Glitch:

@perrybh Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse!
You'll fit right in, there seem to be others around here who are total suckers for this as well. :)

@Decad3nce Hehe, yet another client. ;) One that can make use of Qoto's extra features? :D

@dichotomiker Wait, you think the Fediverse can stop radicalization? Nah, we have servers like Gab, truth.social, and others that got defederated. They radicalize in their own islands and bubbles, the Fediverse won't stop them.

@theothercgray Welcome to Qoto and the Fediverse.. you can scratch the 'near' part. It's a certain influx. ;)

@dichotomiker I think it's more the extremist instances with a more extremist world view that's getting clustered out of the main Fediverse. (Which they mostly already are)

I think that's sweet. :P

Since Qoto doesn't block anything, you might not notice it at all.

But thankfully users can block whole domains at their own... how's that for a 'power in the hands of the people' thing?

@rudolf :blobshrug: Fine, then I'm fixated on details.

I can't show you the amount of downloads for the web version because.. well.. it's always there. ;)
