@joseortiz Well, this particular server is a STEM-focused server, so there actually might be a lot of content and information in the local feed. 😅

It does differ per instance. We have our house rules over at our About page at https://qoto.org/about/more so everybody should know what to expect on here.

The Federated timeline falls outside of our domain, and you might see some stuff you'd rather like to block (and I encourage you to do so if it upsets you).
Thankfully the users have good tools at their disposal and you can even block whole domains if that's full of not-so-nice peeps.

@2ck A possibly better tip is to cancel right after starting the trial. I mean, the trial period will usually just end after the trial ends, not at moment of cancelling.

@JulienDelpierre Subscription is something different. That's when you want to follow someone without really following. Ok that sounded confusing.

Subscription is to follow someone without needing their approval, and without informing them. You can only see their public-only toots.

The add/remove from lists works with both subscriptions and following. If you only see a subscsription option, you weren't following in the first place. Gotta follow first in order to be able to rearrange where the followed person will appear.

@JulienDelpierre Yes, check out the lists feature. You can go to the user profile, click on the 3 dots and add/remove them to lists. Via this feature you can also remove them from the home timeline.
