@Pat I'm not really sure what you're arguing for. Getting rid of the virus 100% is impossible, there'll always be outbreaks and you'll always need lockdowns here and there.

US is a special case, there was so much mismanagement and I don't think the vaccination numbers were up to par either.

China isn't going that well, seen the situation in Shanghai recently?

@Pat I didn't mean the literal form of fly. 'It's not gonna fly' type of fly. As in, it's not going to work to put in new mandates, nobody's going to accept it anymore with those low hospital numbers.

Eliminating the virus like China tried turns out not to work very well. You keep having outbreaks and keep having lockdowns.

@2ck Some people don't really want to be followed and have locked accounts. Maybe for some reason or whatnot you can't subscribe to them the normal way. I dunno. Whatever it is, the feature's there in case you want it.

It's not a default Mastodon feature by the way. It's added here on qoto.

@2ck Yeah, it's something that lasted 7 days, and whole groups worked together to get their logo/symbol/favorite thing/whatever displayed on there. There was even a Linux group because Tux was also there with various Linux distro symbols. :)

It's just amazing to see groups of various interests placing their stuff on there, trying to 'defend' their space (because grieving is easily done), and to show their interests. I loved watching it. There is a video somewhere of the timeline of r/Place, showing which images came into existence, and which ones disappeared, to be replaced by other images.

@2ck They could've done so anyway, even if outside Mastodon, as every profile here has an associated RSS feed. They could've used any RSS reader, but now it's simply in the convenience of inside Mastodon. Or rather, inside qoto.
