@worldsendless In which language's that?

@elilla The yellow rattle sounds interesting. Does it harm other plants as well or are only the grasses affected?
@netkitty@cybre.space @netkitty@hackers.town Mmm, follow request is pending. I guess that site might've blocked us. ![]()
@johnabs Mmm, when we bought this pot of stain in the store we had a lot of choice in colors. It could be transparent, it could be semi-transparent, or it could even be opaque. They're all stains.
I went for a strong green that's a bit transparent so that you can still see some wood lines beneath.
We only have to apply it once and it's good, the store clerk said. So it's probably one of those all in ones. Screw sanding and buffing. ;) We already cleaned those old planks with high water pressure, that's good enough.
Decided to go paint my shed (there's still some unpainted bits left) despite that it's not that warm (20C) and not that bright (quite cloudy, makes it a slight bit hard to see). I have the energy now and nothing else to do, so why not?
Google Translate tells me that it is 'staining' the shed.. but that sounds a bit weird to me. Dutch 'beitsen'. Not quite paint, but more a protective layer for outdoors wood stuff. With a bit of color in it in this case.
I do have to use the hand broom often to sweep away some spiderwebs, they do love my shed a bit too much.
@PawelK What's this about? I'm not understanding the references.
@Czarnobajewka @Pat Not disagreeing there.
@Pat Not disagreeing there. But it still wasn't quite what was said.
@barefootstache Well, that kinda depends. I'm more about the ... well why do girls have to wear pink frilly dresses and boys don't?
When little girls want to wear normal clothes, the choice is very limited. Almost always pink and all that stuff. Kinda as if little kids are already forced into certain roles.
And for little children, body types don't matter at all yet! At least until the age of puberty!
For adults, it should be normal to wear whatever, but of course adjusted for your body type, makes sense. That's just biological.
But the difference between dresses and pants is not biological but cultural.
Back then, men wore dresses/robes too, or even skirts. And it is only recently that it was acceptable for women to wear pants. The 1950's-60's was kinda a revolution in dress styles. But it kinda seems like we're regressing, online it looks like that women are only interested in makeup or something, or at least the influencers try to convince us of that. Wtf?
Annoys me a lot. Sorry for the semi-rant.
@Lyudmila Grump, I'm still sleepy. But buenos dias to you too!

@waweic @urusan Nah, not a Mandela effect. Considering in that article is the following: "This is an edited extract from Survival of the Richest by Douglas Rushkoff", and that's from 2019, it's perfectly possible we've read excerpts from it before.
I've read that story before, so it's not new news to me. Still sickening, yes. I can seriously recommend reading the book I've mentioned earlier. Humanity, at its core, is good. But that isn't very newsworthy for some reason, so you only see the shit stories online or in the news.
@barefootstache I'm all for unisex activities/clothing/culture.
@Pat That's not quite what was said though.

@urusan Funny. Even though it's recently published, I've actually read this exact story before a year or so ago.
The rich are terribly out of touch. People project their mindset on what they think is going to happen. It never quite matches reality.
Humankind: A Hopeful History by Rutger Bregman is a pretty good read about how much the 'upper echelons' miscalculate human reactions.
@netkitty Can I play games on you? What part of you do I press?
I'm loving the Dataview plugin more and more in Obsidian, it's a whole own SQL-ish database but made up of markdown files.
This flexibility is insane.
And I've not even delved in DataviewJS yet.

@lucifargundam I'm glad we're approaching autumn. Temperatures are starting to be lower again. The 30+C we had the past few days were not fun!
@lydiaconwell Humanity in a nutshell.
@knuppelbeer Hou ze gevangen. We hebben genoeg hete dagen gehad!
@lydiaconwell Our energy prices are up crazy too. It impact for -me- is thankfully low because I have solar panels and only really have to pay for the gas prices which I try to minimize the use of as well. But we do have households getting in trouble.
Though I just read an article this morning that it's much worse in the UK. Worst of Europe. This first past the post system is doing the British people in I think.
