the people who kept telling us that movie piracy is a serious crime don't actually seem all that interested in paying people for making movies.

Well the number of trolling hate based instances has just got too overwhelming for to rely entierly on its users to suspend at this point. That said i dont want to force blocks on our user.

I am prioritizing sone sort of opt-out block system where we as admins can do server wide blocks but users can still opt out...

Spain's going to be bloody hot-hot and my brother lives there in the south. 😅
Thankfully they just finished renovating their swimming pool, so I think they'll manage. 😁

Went on a late-night gardening spree until it got too dark. The temperature was lovely. I think I need garden lamps.
The bin's now full enough for tomorrow's pickup. :)

No desserts left in the fridge. Popsicles it is, then!

Lazy day for me today. Although I actually got around to trying out the Steam Dock that I picked up this sale. Works great with my Steam Deck. Just played a session of LEGO The Incredibles on the big TV screen and a controller hooked up.

Please this to help others, thanks!

Slow day today at job, which is fine by me. Next week left to go, and then 6 weeks of holiday. 😊

Ha, neat. The Dutch government has their own Mastodon instance now.

After the Twitter debacle where you couldn't see posts without being logged in for a while, and it coincidenced with a storm with many emergency messages pointing to Twitter, they decided to take this step. :D

They're still prepping up everything, but it should be here:

I love me some dutchifying of the English language. 😋

There's this word 'toegewezen' which would mean 'assigned to' in English. What do I do? 'geassigneerd'! Hey, it's pretty damn clear to me! 😁

In other news, my cat not only likes plain yoghurt but also likes strawberry yoghurt. Good to know.

Apparently using *they* as a singular pronoun (to use instead of *he* and *she*) is hardly a new phenomenon. It dates back to 1375 in written records!

In fact, singular *you* is much more recent! Dating back to the 17th century! 😂

Oh, this quote's fun, and it shows that our gender-related issues has been going on for centuries:

> In 1794, a contributor to the New Bedford Medley mansplains to three women that the singular they they used in an earlier essay in the newspaper was grammatically incorrect and does no ‘honor to themselves, or the female sex in general.’ To which they honourably reply that they used singular they on purpose because ‘we wished to conceal the gender,’ and they challenge their critic to invent a new pronoun if their politically-charged use of singular they upsets him so much.

I'd say it's probably safe to use *they* in general. I do use singular *they* regularly and it's the least fuss imo.

... Oh great. The government has fallen. :eyeroll:

Dutch politics is really stupid.

Why do I cook burritos only on hot days? But damn, that tasted good.

The crazy part about this is, that Meta didn't HAVE to subvert the protocol or find ways to bribe instance admins into showing their ads.

All they had to do was **announce **they'd be supporting a supplementary protocol some time in the future, and part of the Fediverse start acting exactly counter to the ideal of an open protocol, thus starting the almost inevitable downfall of a network that worked extremely well, in some incarnations, for more than ten years.

Imagine Mail or SMS starting to fracture into cells of smaller networks, because Mail Provider A does not think their users should be able to email users from B and C, while C doesn't talk to D and D won't let you receive mail from A. Imagine not being able to send a SMS to T-Mobile number, because Sprint doesn't think you should be able to, and Telefonica blocking Cyta, because Vodafone is blocking PrimeTel...

Yeah, let's do that. Zuckerberg hasn't even entered the ring, and you already threw the towel.

@realcaseyrollins People there and on Bluesky basically see the fediverse as extreme control freaks in endless warfare with each other, and having to pick a server knowing which servers are at war with any other is insane, and being banned, blocked or defederated for extremely innocuous things. I think they are basically correct

Just swept the garden. The only traces left of the storm are various stray leaves between my plants. Whenever it's gorgeous gardening weather I'll bother cleaning those up as well.
