#QOTO people - about leaving / people blocking QOTO etc...
I'm messaging you because of mixed reasons - not all bad but it seems that many of the people included here want(ed) more as many of us have been posting about or around things - some solved but many around the Fediverse also itself.
I've personally seen how it's going too... also having talked to @freemo (many month before now and un-responded) and asking for more (even without his help directly but under his and our own watchful eyes to do *something*)... Again not all his fault and also about my wants and other people's with just social / Federation rules by others / not being blocked etc...
So I'm seeing a few more people talk about EXPORTING out and I also was thinking and why I included you all... Freemo has often done great and a stellar job in communicating with people on his instance but it was a bit patchy and did need branching out / enabling other somehow (a bit like fans running the band's website or at least helping themselves through the root / music band's website / QOTO).
Anyway I have a lot of energy still but after seeing a few comments about other people BLOCKING or similar (and my friend also creating a Mastodon.Social account and not able to see my posts) means we have to solve this somehow... maybe having two accounts? I don't know (I'm also seeking your help here).
Checking #QOTO hashtag makes some of this clear about people's intentions or direction so I hope we can crowdsource and help ourselves if Freemo is often out of communication or at least this level... or just life... We have to find a way...
Not sure about leaving totally as it's "their fault" and not all QOTO (though a lot of what I want and what any social needs is direct investment and building people in itself, not just the storage resources and Techies)...

Howdy! My take is that, I came to QOTO in part because of the improvements they made to Mastodon when Mastodon devs were stomping their feet against improvements they didn't like.
I figure Freemo just has other things going on, but I do feel like some of the QOTO features have regressed over time. It's not critical for me, though.
Yeah, it's always been annoying that certain accounts can't be read from here due to blocking, but eh, again not critical for me personally.
I see the blocking as a sign that QOTO is doing something right, as their reasons for blocking are exactly where we'd part ways anyway.
My use case here is just to vent. If other people see what I write, great! If not, that's OK too.
@freeschool Well, different people have VASTLY different views about what Social should be about or what experiences they want. Some don't realize the tradeoffs they're making.
For example, I personally hate the Twitter-style microblogging format specifically because it impedes deep dives. Other people insist on it without necessarily realizing they're losing the deep dive.
Or the person might simply be apathetic to deep dives in the first place.
That's at the technological level. On the social level, folks who hate Facebook-style platforms don't develop the durable connections that engender deep discussion.
In short, a lot of people make technological and social choices to avoid deep discussion, and while that's not my style, they have to follow their own paths.
Personally, I like to see technology that empowers people to make that choice.
@volkris I believe I hear you but what I hear above that is someone of that kind of person waiting for tech or others to do the social work... is what is almost impossible, We / you can only do that mostly and the customisation of that experience.
That's what I hear above whatever you hate (which there is plenty truth to complain about not doubting you) BUT who is actually not waiting for tech to do it and doing it more personally as much as all the other stuff ?
You are here for example (and my thanks for that) but not waiting for the system or tech created / pumped by the rich to "change" !
! No way - not waiting on that to happen ! Very low chance, those rich already chose and we have it.
Has to be #1to1 or #p2p or something more than a great forum style engine like #Mastodon (we had 20 years ago with #phpBB or #ICQ etc and earlier things) - we are STILL mostly just #1way mode-ing and that is also ok until it's only just 1-way or just a lot of the people on Trump hashtags INSTEAD of ourselves (I can see their profiles - is full on him, like a #fan page even in the hate!).
So I'm against that consumption of time (my last few posts on my profile I hope shows that well with a clock of Trump on the face showing time and media we give him by doing so)... people are not spending even their free time with others.
More machine time and cold Tech people, highly skilled people Cold normal / other people... isn't enough practise.
The Tech mismach and work not being done produces a one-legged / tech-minded society (maybe money with it too because they base their life on it) and human projects break because of that inability (not just loving your own family for example) and make it often a big waste of time withOUT the human sides / practices together...
We could to perhaps join forces / "make friends" with the world - all at the same time as all the same old money-pumped tech) but most want to talk to machines...
Tech has it's limit to empower people - YOU empower me and I empower - without either of those ping pong there is not much of a #pingpong game or building of light trust or #empowerment of either of us.
So please think to #empower me and others while on Social and follow others like me rather than Trump posts...
That dedication and time attention is what adds up better...

@volkris I read my reply again and perhaps wasn't worded or in paragraph order but I like the idea we as pairs of people or small groups can do our own thing and use whatever we do like (rather than wait or hate on what was made before)... Peace...

True to say I'm aiming for more but understand how social is today more towards venting / not so much deep diving / self-solving the actual "social" itself... !
Think I wrote plenty before to that effect and appreciate your use case and happy it works for you in that form, while plenty of improvement to be harnessed (also as people AND instances forging friendships themselves too!).

Maybe it's time to move on from Social being almost all about Trump GOP USPol hashtags consuming time. Although some is needed, we're not building each other up or developing internally by spending time there... (just saying people's timeline is too full of that stuff and even spinning for them their own web while we're stuck and stunting in our web / social growth)
