@paradisewreck It definitely was, in a weird way. I'm so used to the Disney version in general that this was... refreshingly different.

But then, that's Guillermo's thing I guess. I'd seen Pan's Labyrinth as well, and that was so totally weird and different. I should watch that again.

@paradisewreck I found it terribly sad. I really don't know if it's great or not. Maybe it is because it evoked such feelings in me.

@paradisewreck Heh I just finished it as well, and while not quite crying for two hours I did cry at the end as well.

Damn, the ending of Guillermo del Toro's Pinnochio made me cry.

@koyu@koyu.space To be fair, it's not hard to be smarter than Musk.

@josemanuel We’re not mostly a free speech one, it was always academic freedom but poorly worded before. I’d suggest to recheck our rules page as that’s been updated in the past few months. :)

@josemanuel Could be that the instance admins decided to block Qoto, kinda shafting their users with that too.

@FailForward The more respect I have that there is even such a thing as an United Nations if you realize that many country’s leaders are not too far off those childish admins here…

I got interested in this stuff lately and it makes my brain hurt and heart sink. What a drama on all sides.

I think it’s a great example of silly games and feuds at the expense of users of these instances. An admin A does not like admin B and that is the reason for blocking thousands of users of B’s instance from thousands of users of A. And that we call “moderation”, right? Nice! (mind you, if B’s users are ugly people in A’s userbase opinion en masse, that’s another story)

I even read from somebody that all what is wrong with an instance is that its users tend to be mildly annoying and that’s a good reason to defederate the instance (witches.live/@anna/10948021759). Lovely. And that’s how we want to become a better alternative to corporate social networks? Good luck boys and girls in the world! This way you only lose trust of us, the normal users of this network.

@yvanspijk Pixelfed is the Fediverse's answer to Instagram. So you could join a Pixelfed instance or host your own, and see if it suits your needs.

The advantage is that everybody in the Fediverse should be able to follow your Pixelfed account. Even people on Mastodon, which is quite convenient.

@yvanspijk Just wondering, why Instagram and not Pixelfed?

@koyu@koyu.space Heh, what is the current drama now? There are so many, I lose track which one is the relevant one at the moment.

@mastotips For some reason I don't think this image is correct.

The real Fediverse is really very fragmented with some instances very happily blocking other instances for the silliest reasons.

The image that I provide here might be a bit more spot on, though I wouldn't be surprised if it is actually worse than this in reality.

@satan
'forces'? You can leave anytime with no strings attached, not sure what's so forced about it?

Also I think most people look at this from the wrong perspective. It's more a guarantee that UFoI members aren't blocking each other, guaranteeing that there's at least a piece of the Fediverse communicating with each other. If you don't wish to partake in this, just don't join.

I think this is a more positive approach than shouting 'FEDIBLOCK! FEDIBLOCK!'

@sergeant It's nice. That's why I'm so bummed I finished watching all that!

I'm kinda annoyed that I already finished watching Lower Decks. I was getting entertained there, and now it's over. :P
