Awesome to see the posts on here! Any other writers making their way to Mastodon—or other members of the National Association of Science Writers?

Hello !

I'm a microscopist and image analyst at the BIOP imaging center at EPFL in Switzerland.

I'll be sharing mostly nerd stuff about /#FijiSc. Can't wait to see if the scientific mastodon community takes off!

So, let's get serious: can we share videos here? Let's find out:

This looks interesting for people who use , or work in sciences

Introducing Overleaf Labs
overleaf.com/blog/introducing-

I don't work for overleaf I just use the platform, and really recommend it.

To the newcomers to Mastodon and the Fediverse:

When you ask to follow someone that doesn't accept followers automatically, please have your profile filled out and some posts in your feed by you. I'm not going to follow anyone that hasn't taken the time to get their feet wet and write some posts, so I can know what you're about.

The QOTO server gives you 65535 characters per toot, which makes around 36 standard printing pages :blobcatscared:

this is my little rescue dog, Folly. She likes to help me work and sees herself as a future bioinformatician 🤔🐶

From now on I am only buying laptop brands that are part of LVFS... Really loving the level of compatibility im seeing from linux on Lenovo.

Now that I have the opportunity, let me our quality-diversity algorithm to Mastadon. It's based on @janhjensen 's generative algorithm. We avoid stagnation issues, and illuminates opportunities across chemical space, and outperforms approaches!

Not sure if there are any folk here yet but if so "hi"👋 Looking for , accounts to follow/like or whatever the term is here! Please share recommendations

Holy hell the twitter exodus is **still** accelerating. The influx of new users is up about 33% from yesterday, our biggest day so far. We are now seeing over 1,300 new users every day on QOTO!

QOTO User Count
21,888 accounts +34 in the last hour +1,333 in the last day +3,843 in the last week

@gaymanifold wait are you seeing the avrxiv posts int he main feed without following too? It is supposed to be silenced.

@whynot I saw your report about the bot showing in your feed. That should **not** be the case. The bot is silenced by default and can only be seen if you subscribe or follow it. Is it possible you subscribed?

The nice thing about Twitter self immolating is that folks who would otherwise never even look at alternative platforms seem to be kicking the tires and trying to make things work on other sites. Really helps with the chicken/egg issue. If Twitter -> Mastodon works, no reason to think there isn’t hope for Facebook -> Diaspora (or similar). At that point, only thing left to do would be to make friends to connect with. Exciting days ahead!

@freemo I opened ticket behind qoto.org to remove it from blacklist at github.com/hachyderm/hack/issu (don't know if it will work, but mayby will) In case of questions it will be good sth more involved with server look at it.

I'm a behavioral working in . I use a combination of psychological, neuroscientific, and traditional market tools to better understand behavior. Board member for and (), I'm busy trying to make sure the science is right in industry research.

Hi, I"m Jon. I post about Morpholino oligos.
