@justaboutnormal

You can on Qoto as we are a modified Mastodon instance.

Go to settings, Follows & Subscriptions -> Following Hashtags. You can even redirect them to show up in a list timeline instead.

I can recommend checking out the options available here as we do differ from default Mastodon.

@War_Kittens Welcome to Qoto, hope your journey ends here. We've got a lot of great people here. :)

@dannythomas @War_Kittens Well, that's the first time I've heard of pooptoots and I've been around for years.

Maybe not believe them. ;)

@psiie @lydiaconwell It's like a retweet. Quoting someone else's tweet while you put your commentary above it.

Mind you, some instances support this. There are modified Mastodon instances (some using Mastodon Glitch Edition, some using custom modifications (like the one I'm on)).

The instances which won't support this feature would see the toot as usual, but below the actual commentary a line like:

@amfb How this cat hasn't murdered you yet for this costume I don't know! 😂

@msilpala You can see all your followers' posts in your home timeline.

All the local posts of this server in the local timeline.

All the other posts from other servers over the whole world in the federated timeline.

@DrEmmaBall Don't worry, you've ended up at a mighty fine instance!

Welcome to Qoto! ;)

@steveheistand Want to know a big secret?

Everybody is unimportant according to any cat! That's because only they can be important!

@inspired Honest? I actually don't know what you're talking about now. ;)

Okay, it's past midnight here, so I probably should head to bed anyway. :P

@vielbein Unlisted or followers-only would be acceptable. That way you're not spamming the local timeline.

@vielbein If you are going to be testing out things, please put your posts to unlisted.

@inspired As in, responding only via DMs?

My own opinion? I'd find that annoying. This is social media, so unless prompted, just respond via conventional means. I consider DMs to be a bit more 'personal', not for casual chitchat.

@mathlover Mmm.. nodes...

Reminds me of echomail networks and FIDOnet... Which sounds about right. I was heavily into echomail networks at that time too.

@mathlover www probably doesn't exist at all I bet. Mmm... network... ARPA?

@deNew_John It is broken at the moment. @freemo still has to go and fix it. ;) Please use images or plaintext (or markdown if you want) in the meantime.

@mathlover Lol. Maybe still a too new a concept in 1992. ;)

Is it case insensitive?

@inspired I went for a little search for the convo we had.

Ok, now I remember that.

The Good Place I've finished. It's still good as always. The first season was okay because that relied on the element of surprise about the true nature of the hosts. But after that it was fun again.

Attorney Woo, I've watched a handful episodes. Certainly interesting, but I get lured away to other stuff now, so it's not got that Wow/Woo-factor to keep me engaged for long I think. Bit too much 'drama' in itself about nothing, somehow that ends up distracting me away. ;)
