For todays I'm going to do something a bit different. We have a lot of new users, one of the biggest surges we have seen in a while. As such a lot of new users are looking for high quality, long-standing, accounts to follow. Similarly many of the new users need some help getting attention and making new friends.

As such I am going to do this in a few parts. One for old users I have mentioned in previous posts, as well as some of the new users who have been making quality posts and been active for at least a week now. Hopefully this will be more helpful.

Also a section for some bots might be useful.

I will use a persons profile description here as I dont want to misrepresent anyone.

** Things I would like to see in Fediverse and Mastodon:

- When Boosting a post, the option to add a note or comment at the top (like it's possible when retweeting)

- When people reply to a thread, that all people who posted on it so far got notified; sometimes threads branch off by posters removing attributions or replying only to one poster. It would be more productive if all saw it, imo.

- in a more distant future, the amount of content will be so large that it will be hard to follow on chronological timelines, all posts into one big humongous Feed. (think Facebook?)

Hashtags alone are not much of a separation, although they might helpf find something. Ideally, I would think something like the usenet newsgroups would tidy things up nicer.

- If people understood that hashtags are not Cutesy decorations and did not abuse them like is common in certain (insta) places, Searching with Useful hashes would be sped up.

All those words marked one by one with hashes are typically K Kardashian style, very gauche imo.

@freemo @raining_night Keep an eye up on the site and the Feeds on Friday --- there's usually a lot of posts suggesting people to follow, a tradition started on twitter, as Follow on Fridays, tag .

I found some nice ones on the posts last week!

@freemo @mngrif I am sure he deserves, sicne the sysadmin was the one nominating. But you announced a two week nomination window, no?

Best to keep it open, possibly. Either way, it's very unusual how open the process of staff selection is here. Very democratic.

@Memeghnad

I can't speak for the mods, but I suspect the issue is more that they don't want the presence of police to have a chilling effect on speech. Police are very often at the sharp end of structural violence in any country.

However, cancelling police accounts may create a false sense of security. The police can still read your posts. They can still subpoena your mods. However, at least they're preventing from stirring up trouble.

The account of the Assam Police has been suspend from this instance.

We decided that we will not welcome cops on this instance, and we encourage the rest of the fediverse to do the same.

Following multiple reports, we decided that it's more important that our community feels safe and in security, than to be a platform for official communication.

Thank you ! :trebuchet:

Sometimes I don't know what am I doing with my life. I wouldn't feel bad even if i died today. It's like i got nothing to aspire, nothing to accomplish - just holding on to my life and surviving. I'm in my early 30's 😃

Does any of you feel like this?

@raining_night @freemo sorry if that response is a little flippant.

In my own country (the UK) you can actually be prosecuted for not handing over data and any required decryption keys.

Less scrupulous countries would probably use the xkcd method 😅

I have a dumb teammate at work and I end up doing most of his work 😢😭

I don't want to escalate his incompetency, but i also hate spending 1 to 2 hours on some days helping him, while I myself have lot of work to complete 😡

Tried a bit of a food experiment today. Tried to make a sort of fried rice style dish, no actual rice. Its made with fried chunks of scrapple/balkenbrij, chopped up cauliflower, chicory, soy sauce, turmeric, hot curry, msg, and some fresh grown hot peppers.

It turned out surprisingly good.

Watching "scream" season 1 on Netflix. So far good..

Me yesterday, after cooking some sweet potato noodles for the first time since moving here. Hooray for Korean supermarkets :D!

To be fair M.S goes way beyond just censoring hate speech. Generally they will censor rather liberally and do t limit it to just violations of their rules. Ive seen ton a of people unfairly censored over there. Its the whole reason i started my own server.
