For todays I'm going to do something a bit different. We have a lot of new users, one of the biggest surges we have seen in a while. As such a lot of new users are looking for high quality, long-standing, accounts to follow. Similarly many of the new users need some help getting attention and making new friends.

As such I am going to do this in a few parts. One for old users I have mentioned in previous posts, as well as some of the new users who have been making quality posts and been active for at least a week now. Hopefully this will be more helpful.

Also a section for some bots might be useful.

I will use a persons profile description here as I dont want to misrepresent anyone.

Can't believe this is the final season. Some of my favorite dialogues (that i could find easily on the internet)

The all india topper was forced to commit suicide due to caste-based and islamophobic harassment from the IIT teachers. We should call it as a murder.

(A follow up of my previous post)
How cool it is when a sci-fi novel's prediction comes true? (Or almost true)
One such example is a 'DYSON SPHERE' , it is an hypothetical structure that engirdles a star and absorbs its energy.
/A lame analogy - An advanced civilization builds trillions of space drone with high efficiency solar panels that flies and surrounds a star. Absorbs its energy and returns every time they need to recharge /
This structure was first described in a sci-fi novel 'Star Maker' (1937) written by Olaf Stapledon. Years later a young Freeman John Dyson reads this book, who later became a Theoretical physicist. One of his work includes a thought experiment that theorizes the existence of a megastructure analogous to the one in Star Maker novel. (He even published a proper research paper backing his theory)
Fast forward to 2015, Kepler Space Telescope noticed unusual light fluctuations in KIC 8462852 star. This unusual light pattern from the star is unexplainable till now. None of the hypothesis seems to explain such weird behaviour. But Dyson sphere theory could. This star is famously called as 'Tabby Star'

Could this be a sign of an advanced civilization?

Ever read a Sci-Fi/dystopian novel or even a movie and thought, 'Wow, it'll be so cool if it happens for real in my life time?'

More than 170 houses were destroyed, 3 confirmed dead and several missing, New South Wales bushfires fire is turning out to be a major disaster !

"Unprecedented dryness; reductions in long-term rainfall; low humidity; high temperatures; wind velocities; fire danger indices; fire spread and ferocity; instances of pyro-convective fires (fire storms – making their own weather); early starts and late finishes to bushfire seasons. An established long-term trend driven by a warming, drying climate. The numbers don’t lie, and the science is clear"

Did anyone watch s04 premiere?
Any thoughts on the episode and Summer who ruined it completely

If you are following me, I will most certainly follow back. But I just found out that so many new / users follow first & then unfollow after I follow them :)

Btw he is an American comedian (of origin)
So it's not a documentary :)

Seen "Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj" on Netflix yet?

Watch Hasan Minjah's new episode on 'Mental Health' (the newest episode yet)
When talking about Asian communities he says "Mental health isn't a thing for us,
One time i told my dad that i am feeling sad. And he was like 'drink water and pray' if it doesn't work - Take a nap "
True! At least he had the courage to talk to his dad about this. Most of us can't even converse.

@Karthikdeva I think the Northern latitudes is where the impact of climate change, temperatures raising is showing most clearly.

The permafrost, frozen soil under very large areas of Siberia, Alaska, Northern Canada is starting to melt, releasing a lot of water in the Spring (with floods being worse), buildings badly affected by softer soil underneath their foundations.

Gas and Oil pipelines with hundreds of kilometers lengths are built on those regions, and can be damaged by shifting soils. Major leaks can result.

The melting permafrost also leads to ancient vegetation in it starting to rot, and releasing vast quantities of CO2 and other gases, as well as noxious rotting smells.

Saw a really good report on the Washington post on this subject :

M.S and even many other mastodon incidents tend to have this pattern of behavior. They tend to pick a secret political affiliation then ban everyone who seems to be on the other side

Fear of M.S abusing moderation, as they do, is exactly why I started so we will never do that here so long as you treat liberals with full respect and dont constantly belittle or attack others then you will be fine, even protected here.

We want people on QOTO to be free, without fear, to post their opinions and ideas. For that to happen we have to ensure we dont go around censoring people for opinions.

Be kind to others and you will always be welcome here regardless of your views.
